Meet Erin McCormick: Vermont Realtor, Marketer & Local Enthusiast

Top Agent at Keller Williams Vermont Since 2025 | National Real Estate Leader | Founder of Travel Like a Local® Vermont

I’m Erin McCormick, a Vermont Realtor, marketer, business consultant, writer, and founder of Travel Like a Local® Vermont. I’ve spent much of my career building businesses, leading teams, coaching some of the country’s most successful real estate professionals, and helping people achieve ambitious goals. Today, I’m focused on putting that experience to work directly for my own real estate clients here in Vermont.

My career has taken me from marketing and higher education to leading a national real estate expansion organization, consulting with top-producing agents across the country, and becoming the top agent at Keller Williams Vermont in 2025, a distinction I’ve maintained since.

Along the way, I’ve learned a lot about what makes a great real estate business, what separates good agents from exceptional ones, and perhaps most importantly, what actually matters to the people we serve.

Through Live Local Vermont, I’m bringing together my professional experience and my appreciation for the state I’ve chosen to call home. I believe real estate should be personal, marketing should be thoughtful, and good advice should always come before a commission.

From Building Businesses to Building Relationships

My professional background isn’t necessarily what you’d expect from a traditional Realtor, and I consider that one of my greatest strengths.

I’m a marketer by trade and have spent years working at the intersection of marketing, business strategy, leadership, and real estate. I’ve helped build and scale businesses, developed marketing strategies, coached business owners, and worked alongside some incredibly talented people.

My career in real estate leadership included serving in executive roles with a national real estate expansion organization, where I helped lead teams across multiple markets, develop operational systems, build leadership structures, and support agents in growing their businesses. I’ve served as President, Chief Operating Officer, and Vice President, gaining a firsthand understanding of what it takes to build and operate a successful real estate organization at scale.

That experience gave me a perspective on the industry that extends far beyond any single market or transaction. I’ve seen what the most successful agents in the country do differently, how strong businesses are built, and how important leadership, accountability, marketing, and client experience are to long-term success.

And while I loved the challenge of building teams and businesses, I also came to appreciate something else: bigger isn’t always better.

Coaching the Best While Continuing to Sell

One of the most rewarding parts of my career has been working with top-producing real estate agents and teams across the country. Through my consulting and coaching work, I’ve had the opportunity to help successful professionals refine their strategies, improve their marketing, strengthen their operations, and build more sustainable businesses.

It’s work I continue to do alongside my own real estate practice, and the two complement each other in ways that directly benefit my clients.

Coaching high-performing agents keeps me connected to new ideas, emerging technologies, innovative marketing approaches, and strategies being tested in markets across the country. At the same time, actively representing buyers and sellers in Vermont keeps me grounded in the realities of the business.

I’m not coaching real estate from the sidelines. I’m in it every day, navigating the same market conditions, negotiating contracts, solving problems, and helping clients make important decisions.

I believe that combination of national perspective and local experience makes me a better Realtor.

Why I’ve Chosen to Remain a Solo Agent

After years spent building, managing, and leading teams, I’ve made a very intentional decision about how I want to practice real estate.

I want to work directly with my clients.

When you hire me, you get me. Not a junior agent, a rotating team member, or someone you’ve never met stepping in to manage the details. I’m personally involved throughout the process, from our first conversation to the closing table, and I take responsibility for the advice, communication, and representation you receive.

I’ve built and led large teams. I understand their advantages, and I’ve helped other agents create successful team models. But I’ve also learned that the business I want to build for myself doesn’t need to look like the businesses I’ve helped others grow.

I value the relationships, the personal accountability, and the opportunity to be deeply involved in the work. I’m selective about the commitments I make because I want to do an exceptional job for the people who trust me with their real estate decisions.

For me, being a solo agent isn’t a limitation. It’s a choice about how I want to work and the experience I want my clients to have.

A Partnership With Keller Williams Vermont. A Commitment to Being the Best.

My relationship with Keller Williams has been an important part of my professional journey, both as a real estate agent and as a business leader. Today, I’m proud to be affiliated with Keller Williams Vermont, where I’ve held the distinction of being the top agent in the state since 2025.

After years spent building businesses, leading national real estate teams, and coaching some of the highest-performing agents in the country, I’ve intentionally shifted my focus to building an exceptional real estate business of my own. And I’ve done it without building a team around me.

I value my partnership with Keller Williams because it allows me to maintain my independence, build a brand that reflects my values, and provide a highly personalized experience while benefiting from the resources and relationships of an established brokerage.

Being the top agent is an accomplishment I’m proud of, but it’s not what defines my approach to real estate. I don’t measure success solely by production numbers, transaction volume, or industry recognition. What matters most to me is the quality of my work, the relationships I build, and the trust my clients place in me.

I’ve spent much of my career helping other agents and organizations reach the top of their game. Now, I’m bringing that same level of ambition, strategy, and commitment directly to the people I represent here in Vermont.

Marketing Is My Background. It’s Also One of My Biggest Advantages.

Before I became known for real estate, I was a marketer. And while the industry has changed dramatically over the years, my belief in the importance of good marketing hasn’t.

I understand how to build a brand, identify an audience, communicate value, and create content that connects with people. I’ve worked with businesses on positioning, messaging, digital strategy, and growth, and I bring that same perspective to selling real estate.

Every property has a story, but not every property is marketed in a way that tells it well.

I look beyond the standard features and statistics to understand what makes a home compelling, who is most likely to appreciate it, and how to present it in a way that stands out. That might mean emphasizing architecture and craftsmanship, highlighting a property’s relationship to its surroundings, or helping potential buyers understand the lifestyle a home offers.

Beautiful photography matters. So do pricing, presentation, distribution, and knowing how to reach the right people.

Good marketing isn’t about making something look like more than it is. It’s about helping people recognize its value.

I Didn’t Grow Up in Vermont. I Chose It.

I’m originally from New Jersey, and I came to Vermont to attend Middlebury College. I arrived as a February student, got to know the state, and eventually found myself at a crossroads after graduation.

My plan was to move to Portland, Maine. Instead, I accepted a position working in College Advancement at Middlebury and decided to stay in Vermont.

Looking back, it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

Vermont has shaped my personal and professional life in ways I couldn’t have anticipated. I’ve built my career here, developed meaningful relationships, and spent years getting to know the communities, businesses, landscapes, and people that make this state different.

I wasn’t born here, and I don’t pretend to have generations of Vermont roots. But I believe choosing to make a place your home comes with an opportunity, and a responsibility, to contribute to the community around you.

That belief is central to how I live and how I work.

Travel Like a Local® Vermont: More Than a Side Project

In 2014, I founded Travel Like a Local® as a way to share my enthusiasm for exploring Vermont and the places I was discovering along the way.

What began as a personal creative outlet has grown into a platform dedicated to helping locals, visitors, and people dreaming about Vermont experience more of the state.

I visit the places I write about, take my own photographs, meet the people behind the businesses, and share the experiences that make me appreciate living here. From independent restaurants and general stores to mountain roads, historic landmarks, and unexpected roadside attractions, I’m endlessly curious about what’s around the next corner.

I sometimes refer to myself as an accidental Vermont influencer, but what I really enjoy is being able to connect people with places and businesses they might otherwise overlook.

That work also informs my real estate business in a meaningful way.

When someone asks me about living in Vermont, I can offer more than housing statistics and property listings. I can talk about the character of different communities, the small businesses that help define them, and the everyday experiences that make a place feel like home.

Travel Like a Local® Vermont helps people experience the state. Live Local Vermont helps people put down roots here.

To me, they’re two sides of the same passion.

What You Can Expect When We Work Together

I take my work seriously, but I don’t believe real estate needs to be overly formal, intimidating, or unnecessarily complicated.

I believe in being prepared, telling people what they need to know, and following through on what I say I’m going to do. I value direct communication, thoughtful strategy, and the ability to navigate difficult situations without creating unnecessary drama.

I’m not interested in high-pressure sales tactics or telling you what you want to hear just to earn your business. If I think a property is overpriced, a decision carries unnecessary risk, or a different strategy might serve you better, I’ll tell you.

My job is to help you understand your options and make decisions that align with your goals, even when that means advising you not to make a move.

Whether I’m representing a first-time buyer, marketing a distinctive Vermont property, or helping someone navigate a major life transition, I bring the same combination of experience, attention to detail, and personal accountability to the relationship.

I’ve spent years helping other real estate professionals build successful businesses. These days, one of the things I value most is getting to put everything I’ve learned directly to work for my own clients.

A Few Things I Believe

  • Experiences are worth more than things.

  • A great meal can absolutely justify a two-hour drive.

  • Small businesses are what make communities interesting.

  • The best route isn’t always the fastest one.

  • Success is better when there’s room for everyone.

  • You don’t need to have been born in Vermont to care deeply about its future.

  • Homeownership can be transformative.

  • Being good at what you do matters more than being the loudest person in the room.

  • Good relationships are built on trust, consistency, and showing up.

  • The simple pleasures are often the big ones.
